I. JOB INFORMATION

Job Title: Tax Clinic Coordinator Supervisor: Community Development Worker Position Type: Contract Hours: 12 hours/week, 11 week Salary: $18/hour Contract Dates: February 22nd, 2018 to May 11th, 2018 Application deadline: February 9th, 2018

Each year, the LCRC organizes tax clinics to help residents of Lowertown complete their tax returns for free.

II. JOB SUMMARY

The Tax Clinic Coordinator ensures the tax clinics run smoothly by supporting the volunteers. He (she) is in charge of providing support to the volunteers, to follow up with the people served through the clinics, and the management of the schedule of appointments fixed by the reception.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES  Work closely with the LCRC Community Development Worker.  Work closely with the Team Leader (volunteer accountant).  Work closely with the Intern.  Participate in the training offered to the Tax Clinic volunteers at the LCRC.  Be present during the tax clinics on Wednesday evenings from March 5th, 2018 to April 25th, 2018  Participate in the feedback meeting with the Tax Clinic volunteers.  Ensure that the clinics run smoothly.  Support and encourage the volunteers during their work.  Make sure that the volunteers have the tools they need to do their work efficiently.  Welcome people coming to the tax clinics.  Fill out the tax intake form with the clients who have an appointment with Intake Worker on Thursday nights (by exception only).  Follow up by phone with the clients who did not show up for their appointment.  Ensure compliance with the regulations and the code of ethics of the CRCBV.  Prepare the refreshments before each tax clinic.  Each week, unlock the offices and start the computers before the arrival of the volunteers. Also prepare the envelopes containing the clients’ documents.  Open and close the center at each clinic and deal with the alarm system.
 Debrief (verbal or email) each session on a weekly basis with the Community Development worker.  Communicate to the Community Development Officer any changes in volunteer availability, as well as any material needs or difficulties encountered at a clinic.

III. JOB REQUIREMENTS

A. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS  High school diploma, post-secondary degree, or any other combination of education and work experience  Teamwork skills  Knowledge in volunteer management  Knowledge and understanding of the issues and challenges facing diverse and low-income communities  Sensitivity to cultural realities  General knowledge of community resources  Possess basic knowledge of Word and Excel software and Internet use

B. SKILLS  Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills  Ability to work with a flexible schedule, including evenings  Proficiency in French and English required, knowledge of another language is an asset  Attend volunteer training
