Passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at the age of 69.
Beloved wife of John Halim Haddad of Cumberland, Ontario.
Loving mother of Lara (Costa Chatjiantoniou), Dena (Dr. Russell Seidle) and Tanya (Michael Mastropietro).
Cherished grandmother  (Teita) of Kyra, Ethan, Alexander and Ava.
Daughter of the late Constantine and Mariana Inati of Lebanon.
Dearest sister of Yousef Inati (Ezme), Dr. Aminy Audi (late Alfred), Dr. Shams Inati, Souad Najjar (Elias), Dr. Adlette Inati (Dr. Nassim Khoriaty), George Inati, the late Hanna Inati (Najwa) and the late Dr. Yakub Inati (Mona).
She will be dearly missed by her many nieces, nephews, friends and  the Inati and Haddad families throughout the world.
Afifa was a beloved and distinguished Professor at the University of Ottawa from 1982 to 2016 where she was a founding member of the highly successful Arabic department.  She was a business partner with her husband John at the Haddad S & S Foodliner in Cumberland village.
Afifa’s zest for life was contagious.  She lived it fully and joyfully.  She enjoyed traveling, gardening and poetry.
The family will receive relatives and friends  on Tuesday, February 12,  2019 from 5:00  to 9:00 pm at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday,  February 13,  2019 at 10:00 am at St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral, 2975 Riverside Drive.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre for their loving care.
