Hajjar - Georges Cross
Georges was awarded The Patriarchal Order of the Holy Cross of Jerusalem   by his excellency Bishop Ibrahim M. Ibrahim

The Patriarchal Order of the Holy Cross of Jerusalem is a Catholic honorific lay order and ecclesiastical decoration founded by Patriarch Maximos V Hakim of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church in 1979, with seat in Jerusalem. It aims to promote Catholic faith and to support religious, cultural and social works of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church, as well as to promote its Byzantine liturgy. Its current Grand Master is Patriarch Gregory III Laham.

The symbol of the order is a golden cross on red or blue background. Its vertical inscription is ΦΩc (“light”), and its horizontal inscription is ΖΩΗ (“life”), together forming the orders motto in Greek: Φως και Ζωη (“Fos kai Zoe”) – “Light and life”. Prominent feast days include Saint George’s Day and the Feast of the Cross.

The Patriarchal Order of the Holy Cross of Jerusalem, while completely independent of the Holy See, is under “ecclesiastical patronage” sui iuris by the Melkite Catholic Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East in accordance with the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches. As such, it is recognised as a legitimate ecclesiastical decoration by the International Commission on Orders of Chivalry. In addition, it is a registered charity in multiple countries.

A Letter from Mom and Us to Dad,
Dad, you are a great man, you’re honest, kind and very generous.
You’ve worked hard and valued everyone around you.  You are nothing short of a legend.
Your legacy and perseverance was felt by everyone.  Love was always your top priority and it drove you to assure the happiness of everyone around you.
Your heart was larger than life, your love was more than great!
Those who crossed your path throughout life, felt an inspiration of hope, kindness and genuine love.
You gave so much and touched so many that our world, our lives will never be the same.
You believed in the Holy Spirit and only treated others with the highest respect, every time.
The impact you had on those around you and on us, and the values you and Mom instilled in us, make us proud of who we are and we will continue to share these values with our children.
The values you taught us will not only last our lifetime, but will last for many generations to come.
Thank you Dad for all your help, your kindness, your advice, your patience, your generosity, and thank you for always being there.
Most importantly, thank you for loving your family so much.
Heaven just became a better place.
We love you Dad, you will always be in our hearts, we love you very, very much!
Life is never fair!!
You will forever be the greatest FATHER!
We love you Dad!

A thank you note to those present,
Thank you for being part of this very difficult day.  Your presence means a lot to our Father and our entire family.  We are very grateful.

Now I will leave you with this:
“Those we love don’t go away.  They walk beside us every day.  Unseen, unheard but always near.  Still loved, still missed and very dear.”

Rest in Peace Dad, we love you,

Fadi Hajjar (on behalf of the entire Hajjar family)
