Samir Elias Ghantous

Passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2015, at the age of 75 years, surrounded by the people he loved and who loved him, he peacefully made his way to what he called his eternal home – the Kingdom of God – where he will live and watch over us all the days of our lives.
Sam believed “A thing of beauty is a joy forever” and that’s what his best-friend and the love of his life, Amal was to him. He leaves behind a strong legacy that his children Chris (Jossline) and Justin (Grace) will strengthen and pass to their children.
He always referred to himself as the happiest man alive and that permeated to everyone in his circle of family and friends.
Sam embodied the meaning of family as the older brother to George (Salwa), John (Amal), Marcelle, Elaine (Glen), Tony, and Cathy (Norm) and the loving uncle to the nieces and nephews he so cherished. He was the backbone that always brought the family together through his affection, wisdom and compassion. “What you do in life echoes in eternity” – We love you Jido pops.
The family will receive relatives and friends and relatives at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road (at Albion Road) on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm.
Funeral Service on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 1 pm at St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral, 2975 Riverside Drive.
Interment Pinecrest Cemetery.
In memoriam donations to St. Elias Cathedral or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
