Our father and Metropolitan PHILIP of the thrice-blessed memory, fell asleep in the Lord on Wednesday, March 19, 2014.  Christ the Lord called him to his eternal heavenly home after half a century of shepherding his flock; the Antiochian Orthodox faithful of America and Canada, with great love.

Metropolitan PHILIP’s funeral service was held at St. Nicholas Cathedral in Brooklyn, NY on Friday and Saturday (March 28 and 29).  It was presided by the Patriarchal Vicar His Eminence Metropolitan SILOUAN, assisted by Archbishop JOSEPH and all the Auxiliary Bishops of the Archdiocese.  Clergy and laity from all over the world attended his funeral.

Two weeks memorial service will be held here at the St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral in Ottawa on Sunday April 6, 2014 at 10 am.

Our Bishop Alexandre will preside over the service and together with Archpriest Ghattas Hajal, Dean and Pastor, and all the clergy and Parish Council of the Cathedral will receive condolences in the Cathedral’s Hall, immediately after the service.

Our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ must have welcomed Metropolitan PHILIP by these words:

“Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things.  Enter into the joy of your Lord.” Math 25:21
