Why I gave up driving all over town to grocery shop (and it’s not just the cost of gas)

Volunteers Needed for Tree Planting

GentleWays for OurPlanet is delighted to share that our first tree planting event with the Lebanese-Canadian community in Ottawa will take place this fall on the 24th of September.  We’re proud of the work we’ve completed so far to bring this project to life (e.g., securing funding, coordinating with the City of Ottawa), and hope you will be as excited about planting trees as we are!

This tree planting event provides exciting volunteering opportunities for our youths and other groups. With 125 trees to plant, we will need around thirty volunteers for around three hours, and will issue volunteering certificates to all participants.

Trees are the best nature-based solution to climate change, and deforestation is the second major cause of global warming, after fossil fuels burning. We plant trees to help capture carbon to reduce green house gas emissions, to enhance bio-diversity and rebuild habitat, and to support human physical and mental well-being. Here is a broader context for this initiative.

In the coming months, we will pursue our planning for the event and will keep you posted.  In addition to the highly rewarding act of planting trees, this event will give us an opportunity to reconnect with one another, have fun, and contribute to reforesting Ottawa.  In the meantime, if you’re interested in helping with tree planting on the 24th of September, or if you have any questions about this project, please contact us at info@gentleways.org

We would love to hear from you!
