Obituary – Elham El-Hitti

(née Baydoun)
(July 17, 1948 — September 9, 2026)

Surrounded by the love of her family, Elham El-Hitti passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the Ottawa General Hospital, at the age of 78.
Born on July 17, 1948 in Kfour, Nabatieh, Lebanon, to the late Boutrous Baydoun and the late Mariam Aoun, Elham made her home in Baabda, Beirut, before settling in Ottawa. Wherever she lived, she gave the same devotion to everyone around her, and her door was always open to family and friends.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Emile El-Hitti, and by her sister, the late Therese Baydoun.
She leaves to mourn her children, Najib (Gisele Mefleh), Danielle (George Azar), Elie and Paula, and her cherished grandchildren, Sandy, Emile, Alain, Elsa and Christelle.
She is survived by her sisters, Enaam (Habib) Francis, Wadia (Marlon) Oneid and Bernadette (Milad) Assaad, and by her brothers in Lebanon, Tanios (Samia) Baydoun, George (Elaine) Baydoun and Jean Baydoun.
She is also mourned by the extended Mefleh, Azar, Baydoun, Francis, Oneid and Assaad families, and by her many dear friends in Canada and in Lebanon.
Elham leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness and generosity. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered and forever cherished in our hearts.

Saint Charbel Maronite Parish, 245 Donald Street, Ottawa
Monday, September 14, 2026 — 11:00 a.m.

Burial
St. Maron grounds, Hope Cemetery, 4660 Bank Street, Ottawa — immediately following the Mass.
