Obituary – Gebran Amine Hanna

(1936-2022)
Passed away peacefully in Ottawa on Friday  November 25, 2022 at the age 86 surrounded by his family.
Beloved son of the late Amine Hanna and the late Fadwa Eid of Lebanon.
Loving father of Karen (Marwan Nesrallah), Mitri (Sandra Moore) and Nadine
Proud Jido of 6 who will remember him for his larger than life presence and distinctive cough.  Anthony, Jonathan, Elias, Nicholas, Leila and Gebran.
Dear brother of Najib (Samia Fatah), Nakhle (Liana Oliinyk)  predeceased by his older brother Nehme (Suade Lattouf) all of Ottawa; Ninette (late Tannos Zeitouni), Mitri (Marcelle Abou Madi), Katar (Karim Dib), Kaissar (Maggie Abi Khalil) and Suade (late Fouad Wehbe) of Lebanon.
He will be dearly missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, friends and extended family in Canada, United States and Lebanon.
In 1968 he brought Hanna’s Bakery Pita bread to the eastern Ontario and western Quebec region. Hanna’s Pita became the first pita to be sold in main stream supermarkets. A community legacy he was always proud of and lives on through his brother Najib and his nephew Charbel Hanna.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Sts.Peter & Paul Melkite Church located at 1161 N River Rd. Ottawa, Ontario on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 9:30 am.  Followed by a Funeral service at 11:00 am. and the burial at Beechwood Cemetery,  280 Beechwood Avenue.
In lieu  of flowers and for those wishing, in memoriam donations to Sts. Peter and Paul Church  or to the Elizabeth Bruyere Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated.
