Obituary – Maria Assi

(May 13, 1962 – February 4, 2026)

With faith in Jesus’ promise of eternal life, the family announces the passing of Maria Assi on February 4, 2026, at the age of 63, surrounded by her loved ones.
Beloved wife of George Assi.
Devoted and loving mother of Maroun (Vedrana Assi), Roxane (Ramzi Marjaba), and Alexandre Dominique “Aleco” Assi. Cherished grandmother of Castiel, Lucas, Ruby, Jacob, Victor, and Philip.
Dear sister of Ghassan (Roxane El-Asmar) and Maurice (Chantal El-Asmar).
Maria built a beautiful life in Ottawa and touched countless hearts with her warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit. She will be remembered for her deep love of life and family, her contagious laughter, and her vibrant presence and will be deeply missed.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Perley Health and the Cancer Centre at The Ottawa Hospital – General Campus for their exceptional care and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Maria’s memory may be made to The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Program and to  Saint Charbel Church.
Visitation will be held at Beechwood Funeral Home on Monday, February 9, 2026 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Charbel Parish on Tuesday February 10, at 11:30 a.m..
