Passed away at the Gatineau Hospital on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at the age of 91.
Beloved wife of the late Georges Hanna.
Loving mother of Joumana (Joseph Chamoun), Jean and Toni; predeceased by Silvana and Elie.
Fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Samira Yaghi (Farid el-Hage), Hala Yaghi (Dan Deschamps) Peter Yaghi, Amanda Chamoun (Michael Noujaim), Sylvana Hanna (Joe lteif), Georges Hanna, Samantha Chamoun, Christina Hanna, Elie Hanna and Edouard Hanna; great-grandchildren: Leonardo lteif, Scarlett Noujaim, Brielle Deschamps, Olivia Yaghi and Mila Hanna; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Predeceased by her siblings, Nicholas, Gerges, Marie (M Ataya), Froussine Korban, Nelly Korban, Adele Korban and Jamileh Korban.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. A mountain of a mother, rightly called Emme, she was widowed at a very young age and courageously raised a large family of five children by herself in an insurmountable era and atmosphere with very limited resources. Her unwavering love and commitment to her family were matched only by her remarkable strength and determination. Throughout her life, she defied all odds, showing resilience in the face of challenges and inspiring those around her with her boundless courage. Her legacy of love, strength, and perseverance will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, January 13, 2025 from 9:00 to 11:00am at Sts. Peter and Paul Melkite Catholic Church, 1161 North River Rd. followed by funeral service.
In honor of her memory and her love of animals, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her granddaughter’s nonprofit organization, “Because of Roscoe” or to Sts. Peter and Paul Church, would be appreciated.
