Obituary – Ugenee Shimoon
“I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” (John 11:25)

Ugenee Shimoon
It is with profound sadness that the Shimoon family announces the passing of their beloved matriarch, Ugenee Shimoon, in Ottawa on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at the age of 80.
Born with a spirit full of warmth and love, Ugenee devoted her life to her family and Jesus.
Her greatest joy was found in the laughter and lives of her grandchildren.
Always patient, generous and peaceful, she enjoyed being with her family and sharing with others her talent for gourmet meals, sewing and gardening.
She is survived by her loving husband Albert; her sons Walter (Linda) of San Diego, California, Wayne (Nisreen), and Justin (Deborah), her cherished grandchildren Christopher, Nicholas, Matthew, Yasmine, William, and Aurelia. She is also leaving behind her siblings and their families: Jawdet, Alice, Joseph, Jeanette, Josephine, Georgette, Ferial, and last but not least, Amal, with whom she has shared most her days. She was not just a sister but a mother for Amal. Ugenee’s deepest wish was that her children and their families remain close in heart, no matter the miles between them, a wish that speaks to the love she poured into every one of them.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral, 2975 Riverside Drive,
Interment will follow at the Pinecrest Cemetery.
